A class reunion for a school that never was

Being the lousy secretary to the class of ‘74 that I was/am, it’s about time I got around to organizing a class reunion. This will be our first. I guess we all thought the president would initiate a gathering, but when that didn’t happen, years crept by and now we’re up to number 35 this coming year. Time to s*** or get off the pot, as they say.

So, I put a listing in the Worcester Telegram and Gazette asking fellow classmates to contact me so I could get a list started. After we get 50 or so interested parties on board, we can pick the place and time.

I’ve been chatting with Debbie Deel who’s getting the word out on her end and today I heard from Janice Aiken. Janice was one of the originals in my “pal-around” group going back to elementary school. She even talked me into going to her church for a while until the Catholics found out I was Protestant and kicked me out of CCD. Oh, well, it was worth the try.

I’m hoping for a good response. What I have to do now is get in contact with our class treasurer, Brad, and see how much money is available. By now, our $187.00 invested back in 1974 ought to be worth at least $50.00 once you deduct the banking fees and market fluctuations.

It will be a hoot to see some of the old crowd. I wonder how many of them will remember the yearbook scandal of ‘74. The company not only spelled the title of our yearbook wrong, but spelled the school’s name incorrectly, as well! And hell yes, they still made us pay for them! The Principal gave us the old “life isn’t always fair” talk about that one. We sat there and nodded. We were young and dolty, so no one argued the point. But I think when when get together for our 35th, it’s time to talk litigation! Repeat after me; “it damaged me for the rest of my life.” That, and rotating schedules.
